Top five recommended Android apps

The number of Android applications in the Google Play market is continually rising at an estimated pace of 20,000 apps a month with a current total app count sitting at approximately 696,775. When you get a new phone, like the HTC One, you get the chance to reset the apps installed on your phone; in other words, you get a fresh start and you get to weed out the apps that were mostly dormant on your old phone. You typically start with your favorite or best Android apps and then move on to the less important apps like games and social networking apps.
I would like to quickly run you through my list of top 5 Android apps, these are my daily driver apps that I use most often throughout the day. Please realize that if some or none of these apps are important to you these are just a few apps that I use on a daily basis and need to have when I start getting acquainted with a new phone.

My top 5 recommended Android apps are:

  1. Lookout Security and Antivirus
  2. Evernote
  3. Swype
  4. Chrome
  5. Waze
I trust and have used Lookout S & A for a long time. I’ve noticed on occasions when I added an app, but am unable to find it in my app tray that it was because the app was unsafe for me to download and Lookout had the app blacklisted and had my back. Lookout also has the ability to track your device if it goes missing and can even send out a flare
Note taking is one of the most basic reasons for owning a smartphone and if you don’t have some method for taking notes, my suggestion is that you put your phone to good use. There are so many free note apps out there that have been around for a while or are up-and-coming that you are bound to find one that you like. Evernote syncs with your desktop computer, tablet, phone and can be accessed from any computer via the web. There are lots of apps that connect with Evernote and their Trunk is full of goodies to put on a professional game of taking notes.
Swype has been my keyboard of choice since my days with the HTC HD2, running Windows Mobile and their support with Android has been top-notch. We all have different styles when it comes to typing on our little touch screens, but this one works the best for me.
The Chrome browser is a remarkable tool, especially when syncing with your desktop or laptops systems. When signed in, a user can view open tabs across platforms. Say I have the latest article on HTCSource open on my phone, but I am now in front of my desktop PC and want to finish reading that awesome article. I go directly to the article by opening a new tab and finding the link from my the browser on my phone.
Although I don’t need directions to get to my house from work everyday, Waze keeps me up dated with real-time traffic alerts based off of input from those around me. A perk to this app is that users can add the location of a police car that may have a speed trap waiting around the corner or a fresh accident that is going to slow traffic down.
These are just a handful of apps currently on my HTC One and I would love to know what top 5 app recommendations you have for us so please list them in the comments below. Are you using the stock apps that came with the HTC One, like BlinkFeed or are you using another kind of news feed app? If you use similar apps to the ones I’ve listed please share those in the comments, because I would love to give them a shot.
