Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8

The last two smartphones we were writing about are really impressing. Just to be noted, there’s no word about iPhone, just Android. Probably you’ve already guessed we’re talking about  Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8. However, what happens when you can’t decide between these two models? Then stay for a while here in these lines, in which we try to help you with your potential choice, if it came down to the best phone from HTC and Samsung. Sweet as a cake, right?

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Design

These two phones belong to different design styles. We have already pointed out that the HTC is a champ when the look and build quality is about. Thanks to the glossy aluminum body HTC One M8 is unmatched. On the other hand, Samsung has managed to improve the design from the predecessor. Galaxy S5 looks good, but not atypical for this manufacturer. S5 looks more settled, with a plastic case and the feel in the hands that can’t match to one One M8 creates. Samsung wanted a bigger screen, and therefore scarified the phones shape.  In return Galaxy S5 has become more convenient to use.

Winner: HTC One M8

Galaxy S5 has probably the best display ever produced for a smartphone. HTC is not far behind. Probably the biggest difference is about the brightness and color intensity, which is a trademark of Galaxy S5. For those who prefer more natural colors, HTC One M8 is definitely a better solution. When you compare the screens in tech way, they are almost identical. In fact, whatever phone you choose, in this sense, you will not regret it. However, if we have to give few points extra to some of these two, let it be Galaxy S5.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Software

Both phones work on 4.4 KitKat Android. Also, both have updated their UI (TouchWizz and Sense 6). That means you can choose between MyMagazine and Blinkfeed. In fact, both UI bring a lot of good things, but also some annoying features. Luckily, you can shut them down.  Here the choice is based on the less complicated software, so we are more close to say that’s maybe HTC’s software.

Winner: HTC One M8

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Camera

Design isn’t the only part where these two Titans had split. Samsung has decided (as well as most manufacturers) for the accumulation of pixels, but HTC believes you don’t have to collect them at any cost. If you look at the specs of both models, you’ll come at the 16:4 MP ratio in favor of the Galaxy S5. However, in practice, the things are quite different than the lines on paper say. In general, the pixels determine the size of images, which is good if you want to share a photo outside the social network world. It’s quite appropriate for poster sized photos. When the time comes to compare these two cameras, the emotions are a little bit strange. And, why is that? Well, at the bright blue sky and the hot sunlight, Galaxy S5 is unstoppable, and for a hairbreadth better performer that HTC One M8. As soon as the sun goes down, HTC One M8 gets his chance because his camera better “captures” the available light, and therefore it produces better results. HTC’s model has two lenses that perform a very good job after the shooting sound, and because of that, One M8 is ahead of Sammy’s proud. There’s another point in favor of this phone. There is very good (5 MP) front-facing camera that’s perfect for video calls, comparing to 2MP from Galaxy S5.

Winner: HTC One M8

If you need good music, and you just can’t keep up throughout the day without it, you can definitely end the choosing race by picking up One M8, because of its fantastic BoomSound speakers. On the contrary, Galaxy S5 has a speaker on the back, which just can’t match this maestro of a sound. This information is little less important if you often use earpieces, but certainly it’s good to know.

Winner: HTC One M8

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Performance

Benchmark tests are not a true indicator of strength and skills the phone has to offer. Both phones are working at the speed of light and that’s what puts them at the head of the wish list. Galaxy S5 and One M8 are using Qualcomm Snapdragon processor 801, but Samsung’s flagship device runs a bit faster.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Battery life

With above-average results, both phones allow quite decent time. Also, both have special power consumption modes to take energy consumption to the minimum. However, one of them has to be drained out before the other. That’s One M8. Firstly, it has a smaller battery capacity and slightly weaker saving mode. Secondly, with Samsung you can change the battery while HTC can’t do the same.

Winner: Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 New technologies

There are also other details that could decide the winner of this epic battle. Firstly, there is a fingerprint sensor on Galaxy S5. While it isn’t exactly the most perfect option to unlock the phone, it surely plays an important role in order to bring new features to users. Also, the phone has a heart rate monitor, so Galaxy S5 is your new personal health assistant. While these two additions may, but also may not, be of great help, water resistance is something completely different. Galaxy S5 has IP67 certificate, which guarantees protection from water and dust. HTC One M8 is still without this useful addition.

Unanimous Winner: Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Verdict

This is not an easy task to complete. Both phones are simply fantastic. If you love good photos and music, buy HTC One M8. If you are in love with speed and new technologies, the choice leans towards Samsung Galaxy S5. However, if you don’t want to worry about whether your phone will fall into the water, the situation is the same. If you prefer the design of the device, then your choice should be HTC One M8.
