Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8

The last two smartphones we were writing about are really impressing. Just to be noted, there’s no word about iPhone, just Android. Probably you’ve already guessed we’re talking about  Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8. However, what happens when you can’t decide between these two models? Then stay for a while here in these lines, in which we try to help you with your potential choice, if it came down to the best phone from HTC and Samsung. Sweet as a cake, right? Samsung Galaxy S5 vs HTC One M8 Design These two phones belong to different design styles. We have already pointed out that the HTC is a champ when the look and build quality is about. Thanks to the glossy aluminum body HTC One M8 is unmatched. On the other hand, Samsung has managed to improve the design from the predecessor. Galaxy S5 looks good, but not atypical for this manufacturer. S5 looks more settled, with a plastic case and the feel in the hands that can’t match to one One M8 creates. Samsung...

LG G3 review

With the LG G3, we're seeing a brand release a phone ahead of time in order to grab a foothold in an industry that could be spiralling away from its grasp. It's an odd thing to say considering we're talking about a manufacturer that launched one of the critically acclaimed phones of 2013, with the LG G2 impressing far more than most expected. But that was months ago, and LG has realised that with Samsung, Sony and HTC all bringing out far superior models it can't wait until later in the year to catch up, so it's tried to race to the front of the pack with a previously-unseen step forward in screen technology. If you need more evidence that this is a phone that LG has accelerated to launch, check out the changes it's made: removable battery, microSD slot, metallic frame and new, mature interface; in short, everything that was wrong with last year's model in the eyes of many. So with that in mind, is the LG G3 the perfect smartphone? Key f...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S review

The new Galaxy Tab S is something of a conundrum: on the one hand, it represents a big shift from Samsung, one that promises to finally give it something that can be considered a rival to the iPad, on the other, an over-reliance of familiarity. The Galaxy Tab S range packs one major advantage over the competition: one of the best screens on the market to be plugged into a tablet. Buy Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4" Tablet - White, White at PC World for £319.99 At 8.4- and 10.5-inch it uses Samsung's Super AMOLED technology make colours hyper-vibrant, contrast really deep and rich and the resolution, at 2560 x 1600, is pin sharp at all screen sizes. So, what's the verdict on Samsung's possible iPad-beater? It's hard to overstate how beautiful the screen is – for some people, the Super AMOLED technology used in the Samsung Galaxy smartphone range is too much, too over-saturated in colour, but on these tablets I think it's just right; and if ...

HTC One Mini 2 review

Here we are again. The first in what is expected to be a slew of new miniaturised flagship devices has arrived, and it's HTC first to the shrink ray with the confusingly named HTC One Mini 2. Okay, so the name does make sense if you look at last year's HTC One Mini , but considering the Taiwanese firm backed itself into a naming corner with the One M8 the One Mini 2 is only adding to the mixed up terminology. Perhaps the HTC One M8 Mini would have been a more sensible name, but it's no more elegant. To be clear the One Mini 2 is a shrunken version of the excellent HTC One M8 - although the design of the handset gives that away almost instantly. Glance quickly at the One Mini 2 and you'd be forgiven for thinking it's the full blown One M8. It's a lot closer in design to its bigger brother than the original One Mini was to the HTC One . The plastic band which ran round the circumference of the One Mini persists on the One Mini 2, but HTC has done ...

Huawei Ascend P7 hands-on

Huawei Ascend P7 hands-on SMARTPHONES By  Alex Dobie  | May 07 2014 | 1:34 pm  |  44 COMMENTS Huawei improves upon earlier efforts with a glass-backed chassis, redesigned software and new camera tricks At an event in Paris, France today, Huawei officially unveiled its new high-end flagship phone, the Ascend P7 . It's the latest in the Chinese manufacturer's premium "P" range, building on last year's P6, which the company says sold 4 million units across the globe. The P7's design heritage is plain to see — from the metal trim around the top and sides to the curved edge down below, this year's Huawei flagship looks an awful lot like last year's. The biggest external change can be seen when you flip it over — the back panel is now made of glass, and sports a reflective pattern not unlike LG's "crystal reflection process," seen on the Optimus G . This effect comes to life through a combination of seven layers, Hua...
